Types of Dogos Available

The majority of the dogos DAERRS rescues are shelter dogs.  They have been abandoned, lost or surrendered.  Occasionally, DAERRS will receive owner surrenders.  The Dogos that come into our rescue are rarely “perfect”.  They usually have health and/or behavior problems.

Waiting Time to Get a Dogo

Dogos are placed according to the type of home that best suites “Their” needs. The majority of our rescues have social, emotional, behavioral and health issues. If you are not willing to accept a “not-so-perfect” Dogo, your wait will most likely be quite lengthy. If you are not committed to deal with house-breaking issues in an older Dogo or to provide obedience training, then you should NOT consider adopting a rescue. Rarely do we get a happy, well-adjusted Dogo in our rescue.

Commitment Required

We require that our adoptive homes make a commitment to care for the dog for the remainder of it's life.  We do not encourage rescued dogs to be allowed off leash except in a securely-fenced in area.  We do not place dogs in situations similar to those from which they came.  We do not place outside dogs.  Dogos require a lot of time.  They need to be with people who can spend time with them and provide a stimulating environment.

Because most of our rescued DOGOS are neglected and/or abused, we also require previous bully breed experience, a commitment to training and socialization, and depending on the DOGO, children over the age of 10 years. 

Adopters are required to register the dog according to local laws, maintain up-to-date vaccinations, and provide monthly heartworm prevention.

If your references are impeccable you WILL be considered for one of our rescues.  This includes hunters. Our only concern is for the safety, happiness and security of our rescues.

Adoption Fees

Our adoption fees generally range from $300 to $500 which includes the cost of all vacinations, spay or neuter, and microchip.  Please note that rarely does the adoption fee cover all the expenses that the rescue has incurred.
